On Friday 25th March, four of our Digital Leaders attended The BETT Show (British Educational Training and Technology Show) at the ExCel in London with our friends from our partner school – Lanchester. BETT is the world’s leading education technology show, home to hundreds of the most innovative education service providers and distributors.
Our Digital Leaders were selected alongside nine other schools to take part in ‘Kids Judge BETT’. Our children were tasked with exploring stands, exhibitors and their products to choose their favourites in ten hotly contested categories. The results were announced by the students in a high energy, nail biting finale, live from the main BETT stage, where ten very honoured companies received the extremely coveted and delicious BETT chocolate trophies.
Our Digital leaders had a fantastic time judging and trying out products and meeting all the exhibitors. It was a fantastic experience for our children to view the future of technology within education and to have a say on their favourites. Being part of the presentation was also exciting, although Daisy, one of our Digital Leaders stated after getting off stage ‘I don’t think I want to be famous anymore, it was really hot up there under those lights!’
After a busy day at BETT, where a lot of walking and talking were done, staff and children were then treated to lunch at the Rainforest Café and then were able to enjoy a performance of ‘Wicked’ at The Apollo Victoria Theatre. The following morning, after some well-deserved sleep, staff and children from both schools did a bit of London sightseeing in the sun, before making their way back home on the train to Tamworth. Our children were brilliantly behaved and everyone had a really interesting and enjoyable two days.
